airports_in_coloradoIf you are the pilot of a small aircraft, it can be hard to decide which airports in Colorado are best to land in. With as many as 30 GA airports in Colorado alone, not including airports that are for general and mixed use, the pilot will have quite a selection. So, how does the pilot choose which airport is the best for him to land in?

As a pilot, you need to know everything about an airport before you decide to land there. It is not only about which airports are convenient on your trip, it is about which airports have the best accommodations according to your needs as a pilot.  It is even more important to learn about a small airport when you are landing there at night. it’s possible there could be little to know air traffic control help available, and without that it can be very hard to know what you are doing. But it is not only an air traffic controller’s help that you will need; it is fuel, hangar space, FBO services, aircraft storage, tie-downs, ground transportation, hotel availability nearby, and possibly even some fun activities to do in the area while you are staying there.  GA pilots take the process of choosing an airport very seriously. And that is why you should visit The Airport Authority’s website.

While I was exploring TheAirportAuthority.com I came across an article titled “Which Airports in Colorado are Best for General Aviation Aircraft?” This article conveniently explained how easy it is to learn about possible airports for your landing.  All you need to do is simply click on the map of the United States, which will then show you icons wherever there are GA airports available. The map will show airports in whatever area you are looking for with the initials of the airport on the map. If you were to click on EGE, which is the abbreviation for the Eagle County Airport in Eagle, Colorado, you will find links that will provide you with much more information on this airport. But if you aren’t finding enough information on airports in Colorado from these resources, you are invited to join the free online SkyWay FBO network, which is a very helpful database of information for GA pilots.

The southwest United States is a very popular place for GA pilots to visit, not only because it has a plethora of airports but because it is a very exciting and fun place to visit.  If you need to learn more info on any of the GA airports in Colorado, Arizona, Utah or New Mexico, just visit The Airport Authority to find everything you need.
